Dancers
Dancers
Dancing en pointe is a goal that many young dancers strive for but it can be very demanding on the feet, ankles and lower legs. Approximately 40-60% of injuries in dancers occur to the foot or ankle!
Before dancers progress to en pointe they should be properly examined by a podiatrist to ensure they have the required strength, control and that the correct technique is maintained throughout the transition.
Our pre pointe assessments include:
- Pressure sensored video gait analysis
- Assessing posture, range of motion, strength and flexibility of the feet, ankles and legs
- Assessing skeletal maturity, core/pelvic stability
- Looking at the pointe and turnout
- X-ray imaging
- Tailored care plan
